Robert F. Naze Sr., 88, Algoma, was called to eternity April 9, 2017. He was born on March 9, 1929 to the late Xavier and Helen (Meunier) Naze and held the honor of first baby born in the newly built Algoma Hospital on Mill Street, Algoma, WI. Bob married Gloria Hartwig on June 5, 1973.
Bob attended St. Mary Grade School and Algoma High School. Upon graduating from high school on June 6, 1947, Bob joined the United States Army June 7 at age 18. He was sworn in at Great Lakes Training Center in North Chicago, IL, attended basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was stationed at Battalion Headquarters, Fort Ord, California. He retained the rank of S/Sgt. (Staff Sergeant) and was honorably discharged December 1948 and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He attended Badger Business School in Green Bay and started his career as an Insurance Agent, continuing in the business twelve years. Bob became Traffic Manager at Badger Northland in Algoma, followed by Kaukauna and Neenah/Menasha. He then worked as Traffic Manager at Dorco Manufacturing (now EcoLite), Sturgeon Bay, WI. Bob became the first Traffic Manager at Wisconsin Label Corporation (Now WS Packaging Group) and retired from there in 1992.
From youth on, Bob maintained a passion for nature and animals. He held a game farm license in his younger years and his avid love for hunting wild game took him near and far. Bob was a former member of Algoma Pheasant Club and a lifetime member of Whitetails Unlimited. His first deer hunt was with his father and friends in 1950, followed by a lifetime of hunting ducks, geese, fox, and mule deer (Wyoming trips) and always anxiously anticipated the yearly turkey hunts and deer season in WI and MI. He gathered sixty-five years of stories and memories and always valued the privilege of hunting.
Bob was an extremely knowledgeable and talented man with a quick wit enjoyed by everyone! He deeply appreciated family and friends, treasuring all the time spent with each of them – sharing special memories never to be forgotten.
Bob is survived by his wife Gloria (Hartwig) Naze, son West (Lindsey) Naze of Larchmont, NY, and two stepsons Scott Felber of Alliance, OH and Lee (Cheryl) Felber of Rio Creek, WI. Bob’s other children include Brian (Linda) Naze of Marquette, MI; Kris Soderman of Portage, WI; Kay Naze of Ft. Myers, FL; Lisa Leahy of Hudson, WI; Karen Naze of Algoma, WI; Patti (Dave) Donart of Algoma, WI; Robert (Pam) Naze of Casco, WI; and Kevin Naze of Algoma, WI; special first cousin, Harlen Blumreich of Seymour, WI; and many dearly loved grandchildren , great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends – too many to list – always remembered.

Bob “Digger” wanted to convey a very special thank you to Howie, Dan, Glenn, and the famed “coffee group” for the wonderful times over the years. He so enjoyed being with you!
