Use any analogy you want. The Eagles were soaring. The Eagles were flying. The Southern Door boys and girls track and field teams swept their season opening home meet Tuesday afternoon. The Boys tallied 127 points. They were followed by Oconto (49), Gibraltar (29) and N.E.W. Lutheran (23). The Eagle girls scored 98 team points. Oconto was second (50), Gibraltar was third (45) and N.E.W. Lutheran last (4).
Top performers included Jared Conard. He took first place in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and was apart of the first place 4×100 meter relay team. Southern Door teammate Sam Gerend earned first place in the triple and high jumps. Gibraltar senior Tyler Kropuenske dominated the shot and discus competitions.
Kayla Marchant did the same for Southern Door in the shot and discus. Southern Door teammate Gracie Englebert finished first in the 1,600 meter run and was apart of the golden 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams. Katie Guilette took three firsts as well for the Eagles. She won the triple jump, long jump and was apart of the 4×100 relay team. Gibraltar’s Bria Caldecott took first in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
