Injury was added to insult in a Brewers 7-5 opening day loss to the Colorado Rockies Monday at Miller Park. Starting pitcher Junior Guerra only lasted two innings and landed on the 10-day disabled list after the game due to a strained right calf.
The Brewers committed three errors in the loss that ended with Ryan Braun grounding into a double play. Braun struck out twice, finished (0x4) at the plate and was caught stealing the only time he reached base via a walk.
Eric Thames was a bright spot in his Milwaukee Brewers debut. He hit a two-run double as did Jonathan Villar in an exciting five-run fifth inning.
The paid attendance for opening day at Miller Park was 43,336. Former MLB Commissioner Bud Selig threw out the first pitch. Team owner Mark Attanasio’s son Mike sang the National Anthem.
