Despite the uncertainty surrounding the future location of the Selvick Tugs currently docked on the west side waterfront, its business as usual, this spring for the Selvick Marine Towing employees. The dependence of tugboats to move barges and ships in and around the area waterways is crucial to the maritime industry in Door County. Captain Rob Leonard who was on the William C. Selvick moving two dry docks at Fincantaeri Bay Shipbuilding on Wednesday says the work calls for a collaborative effort to get the job done.
Leonard estimates that about three-fourths of the work done by in the area is with the shipyard. Selvick Marine Towing operates seven tugs that travel throughout the Great Lakes. You can watch the video below from Wednesday’s tugboat operation.
