Door County United to Amend hopes more communities join the city of Sturgeon Bay in its efforts to introduce a constitutional amendment regarding campaign finance reform. In a unanimous vote, the Sturgeon Bay Common Council approved a resolution last week supporting a measure flipping a Supreme Court decision that allows some to make unlimited campaign contributions. Dan Powers from Door County United to Amend says he has talked to more people in the area than he has in the 20 years he has lived here, but is encouraged by the response he has received.
United to Amend Door County will host an informational session April 11 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County in Ephraim beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Wisconsin United to Amend group has been able to recruit 106 Wisconsin communities to join their efforts to introduce the constitutional amendment, joining 18 state legislatures and more than 730 towns, villages, cities, and counties nationwide.
