UPDATE: Sevastopol principal Adam Baier has announced that the school will close at 11:30 a.m. as more water pressure issues have occurred. Baier told DoorCountyDailyNews.com that the district has good contractors on site to make the necessary well repair. No word definitively on whether school will resume tomorrow.
Parents and caretakers of students had to scramble Monday morning as Sevastopol School District cancelled a full day of classes due to water issues. Interim School Superintendent Steve Cromell made the decision shortly after 7 AM when school employees noticed that there was no water pressure in the second level bathrooms. Cromell says a quick decision had to be made.
Cromell shares what some may not realize about the situation.
Comell says the water sample needs to set for 18 hours before being retested Tuesday morning. The school has had water issues in the past but never had a problem with the water being clean after a restart. Comell says an electrical surge by a lightning storm Sunday night knocked out the water pump. Sevastopol Schools will resume today with contingency plans in place.
