The Sturgeon Bay Common Council will vote on a resolution Tuesday lending their support to a constitutional amendment to allow limits on campaign contributions. The measure would ask the state legislature to conduct a non-binding referendum to allow voters to voice their beliefs on the issue. Dan Powers from United to Amend Door County pleaded with the Common Council at its meeting earlier this month to include the resolution as other communities from around the state join the effort.
Sturgeon Bay would be one of close to 100 governments to join the cause if the resolution is approved. The Sturgeon Bay Common Council will also celebrate its designation as a Bird City and consider contracts for the upcoming replacement of sidewalks and asphalt in the city. Tuesday’s meeting begins at noon inside the council chambers at city hall.
