The Department of Natural Resources will conduct an aquatic life survey of the East Twin River in 2017. The action was placed on the agency’s to-do list after the Kewaunee County Board unanimously approved the survey of the impaired waterway, but no timeline was given. Land and Water Conservation Committee member Lee Luft says they ramped up the pressure on the DNR because of the importance the survey would have on the area.
The request for the aquatic life survey was made by the Kewaunee County Board back in October after the DNR’s approval of a permit for the Agropur cheese plant in Luxemburg to increase the amount of chloride they are allowed to discharge.
