Career days at local schools have changed a lot over the years. Rather than learning about what a child’s parents do for a living, school districts like Sturgeon Bay are partnering with the Door County Economic Corporation to provide an experience for eighth graders to learn more about local careers. District Superintendent Dan Tjernagel says the event is important because of growing issues like student debt and skills gaps at area businesses.
The career day for eighth-graders from across the county will take place March 21 at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay. The Door County Economic Development Corporation also arranges job shadows and business tours for area youth.
