You could potentially see a little savings on your tax bill thanks to the efforts of the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department. After having an Insurance Service Office (ISO) score of four just over 20 years ago, the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department has been able to lower it down to a level two thanks to improvements in its practices and a plan to build a training facility. Fire Chief Tim Dietman told the Sturgeon Bay Common Council Tuesday that joining the top two percent of fire departments in the entire country is an honor for his firefighters and good news for businesses and homeowners.
Dietman thanked the Door County Sheriff’s Department, the utility companies, firefighters, and the community for their support in reaching this milestone. The ISO rating will take effect for insurance holders to take advantage of on June 1.
