The Sturgeon Bay High School Math Team came in fifth place at an academic competition at Green Bay Preble on Tuesday. Sixteen schools competed with Southwest, Ashwaubenon, West DePere and DePere reaching the finals. Sturgeon Bay High School Math Teacher Cliff Wind says the Clippers struggled in the first round but bounced back in the second.
Wind says although the team was disappointed by not reaching the finals, they took consolation in losing by only two points to the eventual champion Southwest and competing well against schools with much larger enrollments. Sturgeon Bay, which won their 16th consecutive conference championship last month, also participated in the state math meet on Wednesday. Results were not available as of Friday since all schools have until the end of this week to take and submit the state test.
