It was a day of heart break for Luxemburg-Casco athletics. The Spartans After losing a state championship wrestling match by a single point, the Spartans lost a regional final basketball game 84-72 to Kaukauna. The Ghosts were led by West Virginia recruit Jordan McCabe’s 34 points. The junior air balled his first shot and failed to draw iron on the second but fed off the energy of the capacity crowd.
It was supposed to be the Bryce Tekulve Vs. Jordan McCabe show but the L-C star never got going. He failed to make his first shot from the field until the 5:24 mark in the second half. Instead it was Mitchell Jandrin who led the comeback. A 17 point second half en route to 20 points total helped keep the Spartans in the game.
Mitchell Ronsman also scored 20 points including a perfect 7/7 from the free throw line. Nathan Coisman tallied 16 points in a tremendous effort. The Spartans showed incredible resiliency in the second ha on WBDK to make the regional final a game.
The Spartans close the season with a (20-4) record. L-C will graduate six seniors. Coach John Hampton said in the post-game show that he was incredibly proud of his team’s effort this season and looks forward to Spartan Basketball moving ahead.
