The Southern Door Board of Education is asking voters to help maintain current programs in the school district with a referendum on the April ballot. The referendum will ask voters permission to exceed a state-imposed revenue limit for the funding of annual school operations. Southern Door School District Superintendant Patti Vickman says that the formula the state uses for determining school funding makes the referendum necessary.
The referendum is non-recurring and will cover only operational costs for educational programs. The funds generated will not be available construction or remodeling. A series of informational meetings will take place across southern Door County throughout the month of March. For more information on the referendum, click on the link.
