Recent deaths of two older Door County residents have renewed the call for family and friends to check in on the elderly. Last Saturday, a 69-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman was found dead in her driveway and covered in snow just weeks after an 87-year-old Sister Bay man died in a car on private property. While the exact cause of each death is still unknown, Rachelle Gramann from the Door County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) says it is another reminder that this is the time of year when you should pay extra attention to your older family members.
The ADRC checks in on its clients for its meals on wheels program while Gramann also recommends out-of-area family members form a relationship with neighbors of their loved ones to keep an eye on them as well.
