As more and more people file their taxes this tax season, more and more people are getting phone calls from scammers trying to cash in. Tax scams are being reported throughout the area, with scammers often claiming to be members of the IRS. Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski says that not releasing information over the phone is vital.
Anyone who receives a phone call that they feel is suspicious or has already done and fears that they may have fallen victim to a scam should contact their local law enforcement agency immediately.
