Being the captain of 1,600-ton power and sail boats had nothing on the 500 miles Mike Peters got to experience as a crew member of the tall ship Pride of Baltimore II last summer. His journey will be the focus of the final presentation of the Door County Maritime Museum’s Speakers Series next week in Sturgeon Bay. Peters finally got to live a dream of working on a tall ship after filling out a crew position application when the Pride of Baltimore II pulled into port in Sturgeon Bay on its way to the Tall Ships Festival in Green Bay. According to Peters, you get a new appreciation for the ships when you are out on the open water.
The Maritime Speakers Series will take place on March 2 beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but a non-perishable food item donation is encouraged.
