The United States Coast Guard is warning that the warmer temperatures this weekend can pose safety concerns for those planning to recreate on or near ice. Fishing Guide and voice of the DoorCountyDailyNews.com Ice Fishing Report JJ Malvitz says to use extreme caution if you plan on venturing on the ice.
Malvitz says no fish is worth falling through or being stranded on the ice. The U.S. Coast Guard warns that ice is unpredictable and the thickness can vary, even in small areas. Warm temperatures and currents, particularly around narrow spots, bridges, inlets and outlets, are always suspect for thin ice.
