Stakeholders in the west waterfront dispute are working to secure a date for possible mediation. A scheduling conflict has prevented at least one potential sit-down meeting with the city of Sturgeon Bay, the Friends of the Sturgeon Bay Public Waterfront, and developer Bob Papke. In the meantime, Dan Collins from the Friends of the Sturgeon Bay Public Waterfront says the city has forbidden the group from talking to Papke despite several appeals to officials. Collins hopes a compromise can still be reached.
The Friends of the Sturgeon Bay Public Waterfront still asks for the Department of Natural Resources to make a determination of an ordinary high water mark before an appeal or legislative action takes place. A phone call to Sturgeon Bay Mayor Thad Birmingham has not been returned.
