The sixth annual mitten toss will be the halftime entertainment for what should be another exciting matchup in the “War on the Shore” between the Algoma Wolves and the host Kewaunee Storm.
The Algoma Wolves are in unfamiliar territory this season with a record below .500 and a #7 seed when the WIAA regionals begin next week. The Wolves are playing some of their best basketball right now, however, winning four of their last five. Their last game was rout over Oconto 60-33, led by Ali Spitzer’s 19 points.
The Kewaunee Storm continues to jockey for the top spot in the Packerland Conference, boasting a 12-1 record and a one-game advantage over Southern Door. The Storm has also won four of their last five, highlighted by a 74-33 win over Green Bay NEW Lutheran on Monday night.
Fans in attendance are encouraged to bring hats, mittens, scarves, and other winter apparel for tonight’s mitten toss, which will be thrown out onto the court during halftime. Now in its sixth year, the Kewaunee PR Committee will collect items and donate them to Warm Hands Warm Hearts. You can listen to Brady Haupt and Tim Kowols on the call beginning at 7:00 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the game at 7:30. The contest will also be streamed live on DoorCountyDailyNews.com and Facebook Live.
