Governor Scott Walker visited Door County on Saturday afternoon to enjoy some outdoor activities on the Green Bay away from the politics of Madison. The governor was the guest of Fishing Guide Pro JJ Malvitz for some ice fishing near Sherwood Point on Larson’s Reef. Malvitz says they did not talk much about politics but Governor Walker did have some luck catching whitefish.
Malvitz had been organizing the ice fishing venture with the governor since last fall and was extremely honored to guide for him.
Governor Walker was with a group of friends and ice fished for a few hours in the late morning and early afternoon. Malvitz reports that Ice conditions remain good with between 14 to 16 inches of ice on the bay and good catches of whitefish.
