Raymond J. Coisman, 97, of Misere, passed away on February 5, 2017. Raymond was born in Lena, Wisconsin on October 19, 1919 to Eugene and Genevieve (Mallien) Coisman. On June 19, 1940, he married Vida Herlache at St. Francis Church in Brussels.
Ray was a farmer through and through. He loved all aspects of farming his ‘Century Farm’ – even picking stones. He was elected, and served, on the United States Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation (ASC) Committee for 20 years. He served on the Roosevelt School Board and was a Lake to Lake Delegate. He took pleasure in praying the rosary, visiting with family and friends and sharing stories of his childhood, meeting his wife, and farming. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing carroms, cards, and checkers.
Raymond’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and those that knew him well, recognized one of his greatest qualities to be the depth and sincerity of his love; true love. This was shown through his warm smile, the love that he put into the earth on his farm, and most importantly, that which he showed to his family. Raymond was most proud of, and loved most deeply, his family and his beautiful wife of 75 years. Ray will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, for his welcoming smile, positive attitude, and kind spirit. He has now left those that he loved and cherished here on earth to be with those that he loved and missed so much. His heart has been mended, he has returned home to be with his Creator and his true love, Vida. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include six children Leland Coisman, Taylors, S.C.; David (Simone) Coisman, Gurnee, IL; Glen (Linda) Coisman, Elgin, IL; Neil (Rose) Coisman, Forestville, WI; Noreen Norton, Clinton, ME; Connie (Patrick) Alexander, Verona, WI; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vida; daughter-in-law, Judy Coisman; son-in-law, Ron Norton; brothers and sisters-in-law Harry and Anne Coisman, Norman and Wanda Coisman; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ethelyn and Clarence Engebose.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Rosiere. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
