After a challenging winter for many outdoor enthusiasts, residents and visitors alike were treated to a beautiful Saturday full of activities across Door County.
In Fish Creek, the annual Winter Fest brought out many who wanted to participate in some of the quirky events people have grown to love over the last 30 years. Taylor Jorgenson from Sturgeon Bay volunteered at his first Winter Fest manning the toilet seat toss area. Jorgenson, representing the Door County YMCA, said it was great to see the support for all the local organizations.
In Baileys Harbor, players went back to the roots of their sport during the Door County Pond Hockey Tournament. Steve, playing for Hamm’s Hounds from Madison, said it was a great to be back for the tournament after taking 2016 off.
In Sturgeon Bay, about 100 fat bike riders took to the trails at the Snowkraft Nordic for the third annual Koldwave ride. Snowkraft Nordic owner Tom Parsons says it was a great day for riders to be on the trails.
The Fish Creek Winter Festival concludes Sunday morning with the annual Fruit Loop Run beginning at 10:30 a.m. outside the tent in Clark Park. We will have results posted on our sports page as soon as results are available.
