The Gibraltar Vikings fell behind at half-time 38-29 and were not able to overcome the difference in what was an eventual loss to the Southern Door Eagles 83-66. The Eagles were led by Nick and Derik LeCaptain who both finished the night with double doubles.
Gibraltar was outplayed for most of the second half and was unable to overcome the fast pace that Southern Door was accustomed to playing. They create scoring chances best off of quick transitions off of in-bounds. They were able to come out on a nice run and increase their lead over Gibraltar thanks to a 9-0 run to start the second half.
A nice bright spot from the Vikings tonight included that Jared Reinhardt returned to the hard court after dealing with a thumb injury all season. He made his returned and finished nicely with 9 points for Gibraltar. The usual suspects for Gibraltar were off their game tonight and will look to rebound against Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday night.
Head Coach Justin Burress reflected a little on what he saw from his team tonight against the Eagles:
Gibraltar falls to 3-3 in conference play while Southern Door improves to 5-1 in conference play.
