The Southern Door Eagles open their home slate of the dual meet season under the lights Thursday night when they face the Oconto Blue Devils.
The Eagles have not had a dual meet since they defeated the Gillett-Suring Matmen 46-21 in a match heard on 104.1 WRLU, but there have been plenty of matches since then. On December 10, Southern Door finished in 17th place with 185.5 points in the 24-team tournament with River Pawelski and Michael Bertrand taking 2nd place and Tory Jandrin. After snow cancelled it the first time, the Eagles took 2nd place at the Kewaunee Invitational behind champion Bay Port with Fischer Pawelski, River Pawelski, Michael Bertrand, Seth Suess, and Tory Jandrin all finishing in the top 3. Finally last week, Southern Door went to On The Water in Oshkosh with the team posting a top 25 finish in the 66 team tournament that saw River Pawelski take home a championship and Michael Bertrand and Tory Jandrin bring home hardware as well.
Oconto also traveled to Oshkosh for On The Water, but did not bring a full line up. Only Aiden Wusterbarth placed in the tournament, an 8th place finish at 126 pounds after losing by medical forfeit in his final two matches.
Tim Kowols and Greg Letter will have the call with the pre-match show beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the first whistle at 7 p.m. You will also be able to listen online at DoorCountyDailyNews.com.
