The Gibraltar Vikings boys basketball team kicks off 2017 on the road tonight against Gresham Community School. The non-conference game should serve as a nice tune-up game for their next game on Friday returning to Packerland Conference action against Southern Door. Head Coach Justin Burress talked about the message that he gave his team before heading into the break and what they are focused on entering in 2017.
The Gresham Community School Wildcats are riding a two-game winning streak that they earned to end 2016, and will look to continue their streak against the Vikings who haven’t seen any game action since their victory over Sevastopol back on December 22nd. They earned victories over Menominee Indian and Oneida Nation last week, and should be a challenge for the Vikings tonight.
The Wildcats will be without senior Neal Creveny tonight, who has answered the call several times for Gresham this season leading the team in points-per-game with 25 and has scored 10/16 3-pointers that he has attempted this season leaving him with an impressive .625%. This will be his second game missed after sustaining a knee injury earlier in December.
Nathan Surges and Tyler Kropuenske have been the leaders for Gibraltar and have been an impressive tandem. Both are averaging over 15 points-per-game putting up big minutes on both ends of the court. The Vikings are also expecting Ryan Kropuenske to return to action tonight as he has missed some time recently with a foot injury according to Head Coach Justin Burress.
The Vikings and Wildcats tip-off at 7:30 pm tonight in Gresham, WI.
