The Wisconsin Badgers look to reverse the fortunes of the Big 10 in the New Year’s Six Bowls when they face the Western Michigan Broncos today at the Cotton Bowl Classic in Arlington, Texas.
The Badgers have not played in just under a month, falling to the Penn State Nittany Lions 38-31 in the Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis. Running back Corey Clement could become the 10th Badger in school history to rush for over 1,500 yards in a season.Quartberback Alex Hornibrook is slated to get the start today, but do not be surprised if Bart Houston comes in to relieve Hornibrook if he struggles against the 12th ranked Broncos. The Badgers score the Big Ten’s first New Year’s Six bowl game win this year after Michigan and Ohio State were blown out in consecutive nights.
The Broncos have not lost a game since November 18 when they fell to the Northern Illinois Huskies in DeKalb, Ill. Since then, they have won the Bahamas Bowl, swept the 2016 slate including two games against Big Ten opponents Northwestern and Illinois. The Broncos are led by quarterback Zach Terrell, who with help from potential first-round pick Corey Davis, has thrown over 3,300 yards and 32 touchdowns to just three picks.
Today’s game begins at noon at AT&T Stadium.
