A possible expansion of a concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) in Door County is the focus of a presentation being hosted tonight in Sturgeon Bay by the newly formed Protect Our Water (POW!) group. Earlier this year, S&S Ag Enterprises filed for a permit with the state’s Department of Natural Resources that would ultimately expand its herd to over 10,000 animals by October 31, 2021. Former DNR Chief of Runoff Management Gordon Stephenson will explain during his presentation the effects this could have on taxpayers, tourism, property values, roads and more. POW! member Lynn Utesch says people have the right to know what this expansion could mean for them.
POW! is a coalition of environmental groups in Door and Kewaunee County with a focus on protecting area waterways for future generations. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. at Door County Fire Company.
