The Green Bay Packers may be the hottest team in the NFL right now. It’s hard to argue that the Cowboys and Patriots are not the best teams in the league heading into the post season, but the potential NFC North Champions are catching a head of steam at the right time.
The longest current winning streak in the NFC is Green Bay’s five-game stretch. They are the only team in the NFL to have accomplished a winning streak of four or more games in each of the last eight seasons.
Aaron Rodgers has had a sensational season throwing for a league leading 36 touchdowns. His 4,128 passing yards are good for fourth in the league. His favorite target this season has been Jordy Nelson who is tied for first place in the NFL with 14 touchdowns. Nelson has 91 receptions on the season for 1,191 yards.
The defense is also playing some of its best football of the season heading into week 17 as well. The Packers have registered 12 takeaways over the last three games and have not committed a single turnover. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it is the first time in team history that Green Bay has recorded 12-plus takeaways and zero giveaways over a three-game span in a single season.
Win and the Packers are in the playoffs and win the division. Tie and they win the division and host a first round game as well. Lose and the Packers will have needed Washington to lose to the Giants in the noon game.
