The Door County Board adopted a shoreline ordinance this past September however, this ordinance has yet to be certified by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. According to Door County Planning Department Director Mariah Goode, certain changes were needed to be made to this ordinance at their meeting on Tuesday before the ordinance could be presented to the DNR.
Goode went on to elaborate that all counties were supposed to file these ordinances by October 1st and said some are even farther behind Door County due to the addition of complicated new shoreline provisions which have impacted many state statutes. Goode believes that the board will hear back from the DNR either by the end of this week, or the first week in January regarding their certification.
