Sturgeon Bay School District experienced more turnover in 2016 than it had in recent memory. In addition to the usual changes in teachers and support staff, three new people joined the district in administrative roles (Jenny Spude in Food Service, Mark Smullen as T.J Walker Middle School Principal, Jacob Holtz as Business Manager) and a new member (Jessica Holland) was appointed to the school board. Amid these changes, Sturgeon Bay School District Superintendent Dan Tjernagel says one thing did not change dating back to last winter’s board retreat.
Tjernagel says the biggest and best news this year to affect the district was the passage of its operational referendum in April.
