Recent grants announced by Governor Scott Walker earlier this week are good news for seniors and disabled residents in Door County looking to get around. Over $4.4 million in state and federal funds were awarded to assist local public bodies and private non-profits in funding their various mobility programs. Door-Tran mobility manager Pam Busch says it is great news for the hundreds of residents that depend on them for transportation.
First initiated in the 1970s, the federal and state program has helped fund the purchase of more than 2,200 vehicles in Wisconsin, with many of those making a positive impact on smaller communities in rural areas.
