A recent decision to go smoke-free at Bay Shipbuilding Company has some residents near the facility worried about its consequences. A letter was given to Bay Shipbuilding Company employees earlier this month letting them know of the new policy that will be effective in the imminent future. Sturgeon Bay alderperson Will Gregory commends Bay Shipbuilding on the new policy for being something that will promote a healthier lifestyle but has concerns about where the workers will have to go for their breaks if they can not smoke on company property.
Gregory says he was not given any other specifics on the policy. Bay Shipbuilding Company General Manager Todd Thayse declined comment for this story.
