The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans held off a furious Kewaunee Storm comeback Monday night in Luxemburg to prevail 53-51 in an exciting non-conference girls basketball game. The Spartans led 27-20 at halftime as the half was filled with turnovers and missed opportunities by both teams. L-C came out on fire in the second half to take a 13 point lead before Kewaunee stormed back to take a two point lead with under three minutes left. Spartans then got key baskets from Alexis Dorner and Jenna Jorgenson to go back on top. Cassie Schiltz hit three of five free throws in the final minute to secure the win as Kewaunee missed two three point shots late that would have given them the lead. Schiltz finished with 23 points, giving her three consecutive games of 25 points or more. Brooke Geier scored 18 of her team high 25 points to lead the Storm. Luxemburg-Casco (4-1) will now play Marinette at home on Thursday in a NEC game while Kewaunee (5-1) will host Oconto Friday in Packerland Conference action.
