Residents in the Village of Egg Harbor has filed a petition for direct legislation by referendum over planned capital improvement projects in the village. T.C Johnson organizer in the making of this petition and former teacher, says that the reason behind the petition is because residents deserve to have a voice when it comes to discussing expensive projects.
Johnson mentioned also that during the first two hours of searching for signatures for the petition, 80 residents signed up right away, with more attempting to contact him so that they could find the opportunity to sign as well. Egg Harbor trustees will have the opportunity to either adopt the referendum or place it on spring ballot during the next village meeting scheduled for tomorrow night.
