The Eagles head northwest to Suring for a non-conference dual match between the Gillett Suring Matmen and the Southern Door Eagles. Last season, Southern Door went 0-3 in duals matches, but it was not indicative of how good this team was on the mat. The Eagles routinely forfeited about a quarter to a third of their weight class, often leading to holes they would have to pin themselves out of in matches. Individually, it was a great year. Senior Tory Jandrin and Michael Bertrand each made it to state and each walked out of Madison with hardware, each registering 4th place finishes. Senior Ben Hoida and junior Logan Walker are back after injuries plagued the end of their seasons last year and sophomore Ben Kielar will once again set up shop at the 106 pound weight class. This season also marks the first in the team’s history in Division 3. Gone for sure from last year’s Gillett-Suring team M&O Conference wrestler of the year Alex Zeitler and some of their other all-conference wrestlers are as well, but honorable mention senior wrester Preston Fischer returns for the Matmen. Tim Kowols and Greg Letter will have the call with the pre-match show at 6:30 p.m. and wrestling action at 7 p.m.
