Recounts are underway in counties across the state after Green Party candidate Jill Stein asked for a recount of the Presidential election. County clerks, poll workers, and other staff members are putting in long hours over the next week to beat the December 12th deadline. Kewaunee County Administrator Scott Feldt says different ordinances and the decision to do a machine recount instead of doing it by hand is keeping the cost much lower than other counties.
The over $12,000 the county expects the recount to cost does not factor everything, according to Feldt.
The recount in Wisconsin is expected to cost Stein and her supporters between $3.5 and $3.9 million dollars. Actual costs will be determined after counties turn in their “bill” to the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
