The Gibraltar Boys Basketball team returns home on Tuesday night for their first taste of Packerland conference action against the Kewaunee Storm. Gibraltar enters the matchup 1-0 after an excellent road win against Chilton on November 22nd, while this will be Kewaunee’s opening game of the 2016-17 campaign.
Nathan Surges will look to continue his strong start to the year leading the Vikings in scoring 14 points against the Tigers. Tyler Kroupenske had quite the game as well scoring 10 points, gathering 9 rebounds and 5 steals.
Kewaunee comes into the ’16-’17 finishing 12-12 last season and will start this year’s campaign under new head coach Barry Harris. Despite the Storm losing leading scorer Zachary Baumgartner from last season, a strong core of seniors led by Wes Gallenberger looks to fill the shoes left by Baumgartner into this faceoff with the Vikings. Gibraltar Head Coach Justin Burress comments on what kind of attack his team will see from the Storm tomorrow night.
In their games last season, Kewaunee swept the season series winning at home and in Fish Creek by decent margins. Tuesday’s matchup should provide be an electric atmosphere within the Gibraltar High School Gymnasium.
