Food pantries at this time of year become rather busy places for those members of the community that are less fortunate than others. The 24/7 CARE Food Pantry in Fish Creek has accepted both non-perishable food donations and money donations as well. Steve Schultz of 24/7 CARE elaborates more on their policy.
Schultz says there is a list on their website care24-7food.org that explains which food items the pantry needs at certain times. However, that list often changes depending on the time of year. This holiday season, Schultz talks about what the shelter has been receiving donation wise from the public so far.
The food pantry is currently run by volunteers from Stella Maris, and any Door County resident who is in need of food or toiletries are welcome to come to the shelter. Since the pantry wants to be available to any resident of Door County at anytime day or night, the shelter is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
