The back ally in the city of Algoma will be much safer thanks to a construction upgrade. City Administrator Jeff Wiswell says the work was needed to give better access to business and pedestrians. Wiswell explains why the project was necessary.
Wiswell says the drainage was poor because when Fourth Street was re-done a number of years ago, the drainage was taken off the front of the buildings and sent to the backside causing water to pool. The alley construction was engineered by Cedar Corporation and completed by contractors this fall, according to Wiswell.
