It has been slightly over thirty years ago since a dream in a small room in Algoma gave birth to one of the area’s most enduring radio stations. Originally on the air as 96.5 WOMA by D & M Broadcasting, 96.7 WBDK has gone through only a couple ownership and format changes since 1986. Station founder Dale Eggert is now a pastor at Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion, but is proud of the tradition he started after dabbling in careers with other radio stations and Algoma Hardwoods.
Eggert owned the station until 1989 before selling it to Wheeler Broadcasting in Shawano in 1989. Nicolet Broadcasting, the owner of the radio stations of DoorCountyDailyNews.com, bought WOMA in 1992 before changing the call letters to WBDK. You can hear Dale Eggert reflect on over 30 years of WOMA and WBDK history below.
