The Gibraltar Vikings girls basketball team suffered their first big blowout loss of the season to the Kewaunee Storm on Friday night by a final score of 59-16. Kewaunee dominated on offense and defense from the opening tip led by senior guard Brook Geier who ended the game with 21 points. Gibraltar Head Coach Josh Krupenske reflected on how the team played tonight.
Gibraltar had severe problems adjusting their offense to the consistent defensive pressure that Kewaunee applied. The Storm jumped out to a 35-8 lead heading into half-time and never looked back. The bright spots on offense for Gibraltar included Peyton Pluff and Sheridan Ash who contributed four points each. Coach Krupenske then talked about what will have to change for them with Algoma coming to Gibraltar on Monday night.
The girls have a quick turn around as powerhouse Algoma comes to Gibraltar on Monday night for the home opener of the Vikings season. Tip-off will be at 7:30 pm.
