The Gibraltar Vikings Girls Basketball team dropped their opening contest on the road Tuesday night to the Brillion Lions in a 66-61 overtime loss. The Vikings came out firing in the first half jumping out to a 28-23 half-time lead. Head Coach Josh Kropuenske thought the girls played hard for their first road game.
Brillion stormed back during the 2nd half scoring 31 points to Gibraltar’s 26. Brillion went on to outscore Gibraltar during the overtime period to seal the victory. Despite the loss, Coach Kropuenske was impressed by the amount of offense Gibraltar was able to produce.
Sophomore Peyton Pluff and junior Raina Haleen led the Vikings in scoring with Pluff scoring 28 and Haleen scoring 13 respectively. The Vikings return to action this Friday as they travel to Kewaunee High School for the first Packerland conference game of the season against the Storm. Opening tip-off is 7:30 pm.
