The Door County Land Trust and Lawrence University signed a conservation easement agreement today in Bailey’s Harbor. The agreement will preserve more than 300 acres of the Björklunden Lodge from future development. Lawrence University President Mark Burnstein had nothing but praise to say about the signing of the agreement.
The Björklunden campus is used by both Lawrence students and the general public for popular adult non-credit seminars. It is also a popular place for weddings, corporate retreats and business meetings. According to Door County Land Trust land protection specialist Drew Reinke, there are other inhabitants on the property that benefit from the agreement.
The Door County Land Trust will support the staff at the Björklunden Lodge and both groups will continue to make sure that the terms of the agreement are being honored protecting this property for those many generations to come.
