Tuesday, November 15th will always be a memorable day for Sturgeon Bay High School senior Katie Kaminski. Kaminski 18, today signed her national letter of intent to attend school at Minnesota State University Moorhead next fall. Kaminski choose the NCAA Division II program because of their strong swim team, and academic programs. Kaminski expressed she wanted to study to become an orthodontist. For her, signing the letter today was a big stress reliever.
Kaminski wrapped up her final swim of her high school career this past Friday as she competed in the WIAA State Championship Swim Meet. She placed 10th and 12th respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard individual medley events. Even though her high school career is over, her college career is still ahead of her. She is pretty excited about the next steps.
Kaminski had an impressive career swimming all four years at Sturgeon Bay. She has won the Bay Conference Swimmer of the Year award, holds seven individual conference championship records, and has been a part of four conference championship relay teams. She served as team captain during her junior and senior year. Although her swim season is over, Kaminski will be back in action for Sturgeon Bay High School in the spring when track season begins where she plans to close out her Sturgeon Bay High School athletic career.
