A family has donated a 40 acre parcel of woodland as a new conservation easement to Door County Land Trust. John and Ann Bladholm’s donation is located along Claybanks Creek in Southern Door County. Door County Land Trust Executive Director Tom Clay says the Bladholm family wishes to preserve the property they purchased over 50 years ago for future generations.
The conservation easement on the Baldholm property protects a mature white cedar swamp and 400 yards of Claybanks Creek which is one-quarter mile from Lake Michigan. Door County Land Trust encourages landowners to consider using conservation easements as a tool to protect their natural area and farmland from development, according to Clay.
