Door County families dealing with suicide have an opportunity find support through an organization called “Survivors of Suicide.” The grieving process can be complicated when death is a result of suicide. That is one of the reasons why Survivors of Suicide (SOS) Door County will host a Saturday gathering in conjunction with International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day. Jamie Sullivan, support leader for SOS, details some of the things she has witnessed when the group meets.
According to Sullivan, Door County has a high suicide percentage, over 16% per 100,000 population. The event which takes place from 1 until 3 pm at the Sturgeon Bay Library on Saturday, November 19th will feature a video, crafts, food, and conversation.
