Voters in Algoma had to deal with a little more than just long lines this morning after a single-vehicle crash knocked out the power and Internet to a polling site. After 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, a garbage truck knocked down a power line and Internet service line behind city hall near Algoma Elementary School. City administrator Jeff Wiswell says city crews, election workers, and staff members have been hard at work to get everything back online.
Wiswell hopes power and the Internet will be restored by this afternoon, but contingency plans are currently in place to allow residents to continue voting. No one was hurt in the accident and no additional damage was reported.
