The Eagle Tower Fund received great news on Monday morning, as a local foundation has agreed to a matching grant of $100,000. Eagle Tower Fund Campaign Director Rachel Stollenwerk explains what this donation means to them.
The 75-foot tall observation tower has been a historic landmark in Peninsula State Park going back to its opening in 1932. The 101 step climb to the top of the observation tower gives breathtaking views of the bay of Green Bay, surrounding islands, and the upper side of the Michigan shoreline. Stollenwerk hopes that the news of the grant approval will help continue to spread the word about the project and increase the endless amount of community support.
The news of the grant arrives only weeks after an initial $100,000 donation was confirmed which allowed the project committee and state department to move forward with the selection of an architect/engineer.
