A man was rescued by the Ephraim and Gibraltar Fire Departments after two workers saw him hanging onto his kayak about 200 yards from shore. The man in his 50s was in the water for about an hour before the call came in and was taken to Sturgeon Bay to be treated for mild hypothermia. The incident took place in the Bay of Green Bay near North Shore Road in Ephraim on Tuesday. Ephraim Fire Chief Justin MacDonald says the rescue was a true team effort.
Chief MacDonald said that there were around three foot waves when the kayaker either fell or rolled out of his vessel.
