The Sevastopol Pioneers broke their postseason victory drought with a 24-22 win over the Northwood/Solon Springs Evergreens in a game heard on 96.7 WBDK.
After a scoreless first quarter. Sevastopol struck first with a 4-yard catch by Jeremy Jorns. The Evergreens’ Hunter Phillips matched Jorns with a catch of his own before half time. A penalty gave the Evergreens a second chance at a kick off return and Hunter Almer took it 70 yards for the lead. Jorns added his second score of the game on a pass from Hunter Ebel to tilt the scales back for the Pioneers.
After the Evergreens scored their third touchdown on the day on a run by Elijah Volz, big plays Jake Welsing and Max Krohn set up a 29 yard score to Blake Sargent to give the Pioneers the thrilling victory.
The Pioneers finish the season 7-3 in coach Ron Frank’s first season back on the Sevastopol sidelines in a postseason game in six years.
